2020 WWV Estate Syrah - Mourvèdre - Grenache

2020 WWV Estate Syrah - Mourvèdre - Grenache
Walla Walla Valley

We have been experimenting with Mediterranean varietals for years now, and are excited about this release of our Walla Walla Valley Estate Syrah - Mourvèdre - Grenache blend. Fermented with native yeasts and spontaneous malolactic fermentation, this blend will change from year to year to produce a wine inspired by some of our old world favorites. This wine was produced from grapes grown at Woodward Canyon Estate Vineyard (Salmon Safe certified) at the western edge of the Walla Walla Valley.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This wine is dark cherry red in color with aromatics of serrano ham, oil, cured olive, and ripe plum. In the mouth, there are flavors of vanilla and ripe red fruits that evolve nicely into a smooth mouthfeel, and a classic Walla Walla character. Its ripe fruit and acidity make it a very food-worthy wine to be enjoyed with Mediterranean cuisine. This wine will benefit from more bottle aging, and with proper cellaring, it should age well for up to ten years.
Ratings
93 POINTS, Owen Bargreen: This blends 50% Syrah with 38% Mourvèdre and 12% Grenache. Smoked brisket, white pepper, and green olives all combine on the nose. The palate is very fresh and focused with a seamless texture. Layered and showing nice lavender and salty notes, this is a beautiful wine to consume now and over the next eight-plus years.
