Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This garnet red wine begins with wet stone, dried herbs, and brambly fruit notes. It continues with more bramble fruit, dried violets, plum, berry, and subtle tomato vine. It is
elegant and opens up beautifully with more time in the glass. Sweet dry tannins create good grip, and subtle fruit and savory aromas show varietal typicity. This wine is
balanced enough to enjoy now and with proper cellaring should age well for five to seven years.
Vineyard Notes
Planted in 1977, Woodward Canyon is the westernmost vineyard in Walla Walla Valley AVA, roughly 15 miles west of Walla Walla, Washington. There are 41 vineyard acres planted and several more acres of green belts that support native species such as western juniper, ponderosa pine, western sagebrush, arrowleaf balsamroot, and perennial wildflowers. Ritzville silt loam over fractured basalt, slope 15-18%, 750-850 ft. elevation. All grapes are Salmon Safe certified as is the wine.
