Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2024 Estate Sauvignon Blanc is a beautifully clear, pale straw color. It greets the nose with an enticing bouquet of crab apple, Asian pear and green melon, elegantly interwoven with a hint of wet stone and summer grass. On the palate, this vintage is vibrant and beautifully textured. A lively acidity provides a crisp framework for the flavors, leading to a long, clean finish with subtle notes of shortbread and rosehip. It's a wine that is both invigorating and gracefully nuanced. To fully appreciate its character, serve it wellchilled. This wine pairs wonderfully with seafood ceviche, grilled asparagus with lemon and Parmesan, or fish tacos with fresh salsa and a squeeze of lime.
Vineyard Notes
Established in 1977, Woodward Canyon is the westernmost vineyard in Walla Walla Valley AVA, roughly 15 miles west of Walla Walla, Washington. There are 35 vineyard acres planted and several more acres of green belts that support native species such as western juniper, ponderosa pine, western sage-brush, arrowleaf balsamroot, and perennial wildflowers. Ritzville silt loam over fractured basalt, slope 15-18%, 750-850ft elevation. Managed by Woodward Canyon. All grapes are Salmon Safe certified, as is the wine.
Production Notes
This Walla Walla Valley Sauvignon Blanc is produced from our Estate-grown fruit. Sauvignon Blanc grapes were hand-harvested, sorted, and the whole cluster pressed. Settled juice was chilled and cold fermented in stainless steel; this wine did not go through malolactic fermentation. After primary fermentation, the wine was aged in neutral Sirugue French oak for additional complexity and roundness.
Winemaker Notes
For premium white wines like this Sauvignon Blanc, proper storage is key. Cellar it on its side at 55-60 degrees. Just before serving, chill it to 45-48 degrees to prevent the development of tartrate crystals.
Food Pairing Notes
Consider pairing it with seafood ceviche, grilled asparagus with lemon and Parmesan shavings or chicken or fish tacos with fresh salsa and a squeeze of lime.
