2022 Estate Grenache-Mourvèdre-Syrah-Malbec

2022 Estate Grenache-Mourvèdre-Syrah-Malbec
Walla Walla Valley

We have been experimenting with Mediterranean varietals for years now, and are excited about this blend. Fermented with native yeasts and spontaneous malolactic fermentation, the blend will change from year to year to produce a wine inspired by some of our old world favorites. This wine was produced from grapes grown at Woodward Canyon Estate Vineyard (Salmon Safe certified) at the western edge of the Walla Walla Valley.

Tasting Notes
This wine's deep ruby color hints at the complex aromas within. The nose offers a delightful mix of spices and dark berries, interwoven with cocoa powder. On the palate, this medium- to full-bodied wine truly shines. Juicy red fruit flavors take center stage, complemented by savory notes of thyme, black olive and anise, along with a subtle earthy undertone. The wine boasts good texture and promises enjoyment now and for years to come. While already showing beautifully, this blend will continue to evolve and reward cellaring.
Ratings
93 POINTS - Owen Bargreen: The 2022 Grenache/Mourvedre/Syrah/Malbec Red Wine is a one of a kind offering that is already nicely evolved. Baking spices and black tea with cocoa powder all mark the nose alongside shades of black licorice and wintergreen. The palate is big and bold with a juicy core of black and red fruits alongside thyme, chocolate and hints of scorched earth. Medium to full-bodied with good texture and verve, enjoy now and over the next ten years. Drink 2024-2034 | Wine Advocate: 92 Points, The 2022 GSM is a blend of 41% Grenache, 29% Mourvèdre, 24% Syrah and 6% Malbec. It has layered aromas of blueberry, rhubarb, aniseed, thyme and lavender. The full-bodied palate is elegantly styled with floral and mineral-laced flavors. It’s light on its feet with soft, velvety tannins and bright acidity, and it has a long, latent finish. 375 cases were made.
