Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This garnet red wine begins with wet stone, dried herbs, and brambly fruit notes. It continues with more bramble fruit, dried violets, plum, berry, and subtle tomato vine. It is elegant and opens up beautifully with more time in the glass. Sweet dry tannins create good grip, and subtle fruit and savory aromas show varietal typicity. This wine is balanced enough to enjoy now and with proper cellaring should age well for five to seven years.
Ratings
93 POINTS- Owen Bargreen: The 2020 ‘Estate’ Cabernet Franc is a beautiful new wine by Woodward Canyon. Black and red florals combine with green herbs, blackberry, and shades of roasted plum. The palate is soft and refined with a silky texture and serious length. Showing good weight, this is a beautiful Cabernet Franc that will cellar well for another ten-plus years. Drink 2022-2032 | 90 POINTS - Wine Advocate: The 2020 Cabernet Franc Estate presents a mineral-driven and red-fruited profile accented by hints of sweet herbs and oak spices. With a medium to full body, the wine offers a focused spiciness with finesse while flavors of dark plum and a kiss of sage dance across the mid-palate. The Cabernet Franc concludes with a fine, mineral-laced finish and lingering a spicy tannic edge. Enjoy with food. |
