This 2019 Walla Walla Valley Estate Reserve was produced from grapes grown at Woodward Canyon Estate Vineyard (Salmon Safe certified) at the western edge of the Walla Walla Valley. This wine is always produced from our finest Estate Vineyard lots and exemplifies the best of our unique location. It is very satisfying to produce such a classic Walla Walla Valley red wine.

Tasting Notes
Dense and profoundly purple, this wine exhibits elegant high toned aromatics of subtle leather from new oak that intermingles with graham, savory herbs, and cigar box. The wine has beautiful, ripe fruit with our classic Walla Walla structure that provides a nice texture and transitions to a firm and well-balanced mouthfeel. Upon its release, the wine will benefit from more bottle aging and with proper cellaring, this wine should age well for a decade or more.

95 POINTS- Vinous: The 2019 Red Wine Estate Reserve by Woodward Canyon is a gorgeous offering that features red florals, green bell pepper, tar, and cassis on the nose. The palate shows glorious length and a soft mouthfeel, revealing layers of crème de cassis, anise, and blackberry cordial along with herbal undertones. Gorgeous now, this has another 15-20 years to go. 92 POINTS - James Sucking: A quiet nose of blackberry, mulberry, and sage. Full-bodied with fine tannins. Coffee and herbs color the rich dark-fruited palate. Good depth and concentration. 46% cabernet sauvignon, 23% merlot, 15% malbec, 8% petit verdot and 8% malbec. Vineyard Notes
Established in 1977, Woodward Canyon is the westernmost vineyard in Walla Walla Valley AVA, roughly 15 miles west of Walla Walla, Washington. There are 41 vineyard acres planted and several more acres of green belts that support native species such as western juniper, ponderosa pine, western sagebrush, arrowleaf balsamroot, and perennial wildflowers. Ritzville silt loam over fractured basalt, slope 15-18%, 750-850 ft. elevation. All grapes are Salmon Safe certified as is the wine.
Production Notes
Hand harvested and sorted. 48 hour cold soak, Fermented with Woodward Canyon native yeast in 2 ton stainless steel fermenters. 100% new French & Hungarian barrels, 22 months
