Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This enticing and deeply colored red wine shows a complex nose of baking spice, black olive and graham integrated beautifully with aromas of ripe black fruits. In the mouth the wine is rich and elegant, showing subtle notes of herb and blackberry. Integrated tannins enhance the texture and give proportion; the finish is complex, generous, and long. While this wine can be enjoyed now it will benefit greatly from additional cellaring for 10-15+ years from vintage.
Ratings
92 POINTS, Wine Spectator, Well-knit and delicately spirited, with expressive blackberry, tobacco, and spice flavors that persist toward refined tannins. Drink now through 2028. 92 POINTS, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series is an expressive Cabernet with a tight core of red and black fruit that exudes aromas of red and purple flowers, sweet oak spices, mocha and cinnamon on the nose. The full-bodied palate is rich with a beautiful depth of layers and shines with precision across the mid-palate. The finish is elegant and powerful, long and impressive. Only 863 cases were made, and they are worth every penny! 91+ POINTS- Tanzer (Vinous): Deep ruby-red. Aromas of plum, licorice, and brushy peppery herbs show an obvious pyrazine character. Inky, medicinal blueberry, blackberry, cassis, menthol and cocoa powder flavors convey a slightly elevated impression of alcohol and some exotic Taransaud oak notes. The tannins are a bit granular but not hard or dry. 90 POINTS- Wine Enthusiast: How times flies. In the 25th iteration of this wine, aromas of sweet barrel spice, vanilla, the blackest of cherries, herb, and scorched earth lead to creamy, well-balanced fruit and barrel flavors, with vanilla extract and cocoa notes on the finish.
