The Woodward Canyon Estate Reserve is always produced from our finest Estate Vineyard lots. It is very satisfying to produce such a classic Walla Walla Valley red wine. The Estate Vineyard has nearly always been a rather low yielding property and 2014 was no different with an average yield of around 2.9 tons per acre. It is gratifying to see such amazing quality from our vineyard given the warmth of the vintage.

		Tasting Notes
As might be expected from a rather warm vintage such as 2014, the resulting wine is elegant but still structured with generous black current fruit. A breadth of baking spice, five spice and vanilla from new oak integrates beautifully with the rather dominant cabernet sauvignon fruit. A nose of ripe black fruits, crème brulee and pipe tobacco develops in the glass; the color is dark red. The wine has amazing texture and transitions to a firm and very well balanced mouth feel; the finish is rich, layered and long. There is a distinct “expression” or “sense of place” in this wine. With proper cellaring, this wine should age well for ten years.
		Vineyard Notes
All grapes are sustainably grown at Woodward Canyon Estate Vineyard. Since 2006, our vineyard has been certified sustainable by the International Organisation for Biological Control (IOBC) & LIVE. The IOBC was established in 1955 to promote environmentally safe methods of pest and disease control in plant protection. The vineyard is also designated as Salmon Safe. This wine is 100% from the Estate Vineyard also making it a certified Salmon Safe wine.
		Production Notes
This wine was fermented in small 2000 liter open top tanks with native yeast and was punched down two times per day. After pressing, this wine went directly to new French chateau barrels for maturation and development.
