Charbonneau Vineyards

Charbonneau Vineyard, planted in the early 1980's, is the primary fruit source for our red blend of the same name, Charbonneau Red.  This proprietary blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot was started in 1984 and although we don't make one every year, it is always a Woodward employee favorite.  Charbonneau Vineyard consists of just less than 40 acres of very sandy soil over shallow basalt rock lying just East of the Snake River, at the western edge of Walla Walla County.

This vineyard takes its name from Toussaint Charbonneau, Sacajawea's husband, a cook with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The expedition party camped near this site some 200 years ago
